EE 032: Are You Built for EXECUpreneurial Success?
Jan 13, 2021I am asked on the regular, “Do you think I have what it takes to be an entrepreneur?”
Short answer is an emphatic ”Yes”. The fact you are even asking that question is the key to flirting with entrepreneurial success. Bottom line is that you must be willing to assess, critique and forgive yourself to have the best shot at becoming a successful entrepreneur.
The truth is, just about anyone can be an entrepreneur. Seems like every Tom, Dick, and Harriet is claiming they’re an entrepreneur these days. There is no verification, nor certification. Nor should there be. It’s your gig to claim. Word of caution, beware from whom you take your entrepreneurial advice. Too many posers out there.
That aside, it does take a certain type of person to successfully tap into their inner entrepreneur.
Cool thing is, the type of person that is the most successful at this can be found all over the world. They’re busy doing things in life that hone their entrepreneurial skills, without them even trying. With attributes like drive, determination, patience, the ability to recognize a good idea and persistence many different types of people have what it takes to be an entrepreneur.
People in these phases of life make great entrepreneurs…
College Students: anyone who’s attended college knows that being a student can be one of the toughest periods of your life. Of course, it can also be one of the most rewarding since young adults or those in life’s transitions are exploring their independence, often for the first time. And with all of the hard work that they have to put in with homework, attending classes and participating in school activities, college students have the tenacity it takes to be successful entrepreneurs.
Seniors: the sages of our society are in a perfect position to become successful entrepreneurs. If they are retired, they have a fair amount time on their hands. Instead of filling this with trivial activities, they could put that time to work through combining their skills with a solid business idea. Entrepreneurship is an excellent way to put a lifetime of experience to work. Seniors who become entrepreneurs find not only financial benefits, but they often find their true life’s passion through entrepreneurship!
Again, anyone can be an entrepreneur. There’s no demographic that will better succeed.
Entrepreneurship is the great equalizer.
Men and women both have an equal chance of becoming a successful entrepreneur. Both the young and elders alike can succeed. The entrepreneurial spirit transcends every nuance of the human race.
Success comes down to drive, grit, a willingness to try new things, embracing the potential of failure, and many other skills that can only be gained through experience. And resilience. No matter who you are, or your particular skills and abilities, you have what it takes to become an entrepreneur.
You just need a great idea, and to build up your EXECUpreneurial skills.
